Health Care Plans

The Children's Mercy Take CARE plan includes a variety of health care benefits and choices.

You’re eligible if you’re a full- or part-time team member working at least 30 hours per week.

  • Your coverage is effective the first of the month on or following 30 days from your hire date.
  • Children's Mercy contributes to the cost of medical and dental coverage if you’re scheduled to work a minimum of 48 hours per pay period.
  • The medical, dental and vision plans offer four coverage tiers, including employee only, employee + spouse, employee + child(ren) and family.
  • You can cover your spouse and dependent children up to age 26.

Medical and prescription coverage

  • Three comprehensive account-based medical plan options designed to promote your wellness, with choices for how to spend your health care dollars.

  • Prescription drug coverage included.

  • The Gold and Blue plan options include a health reimbursement account (HRA), and the Green Plan includes a health savings account (HSA). Children’s Mercy funds the accounts with $500 to $1,000, depending on your coverage level. The HSA also allows you to set aside your own pre-tax money to fund current or future health care expenses.

  • All plans include telehealth services.

  • They also include discounts on pediatric care at Children’s Mercy facilities.

Vision coverage

  • Two vision plan options.

  • Both cover annual eye exams with an in-network provider for a $ 15 co-pay.

  • Each provides a different level of allowances to reduce your out-of-pocket cost for lenses, frames, or contacts.

Dental coverage

  • Three dental plan options.

  • All provide coverage for preventive (cleanings and x-rays every six months) and basic services (fillings, tooth extraction, root canals and most gum-related work) to help you identify dental issues before they become larger health problems.

  • Two of the plans cover major services (including crowns, bridges, and dentures) and one covers orthodontia.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

  • Health Care and Dependent Day Care accounts.

  • They allow you to set aside money from your paycheck pre-tax to pay for eligible health or dependent day care expenses.

  • The Health Care FSA reimburses you for eligible out-of-pocket health care expenses typically not covered by the health plans.

  • The Dependent Day Care FSA reimburses you for eligible dependent care expenses.

Employee assistance program
